These pictures were taken on Friday July 1 as the band prepared to leave Medan for Gunungsitoli.

Our aircraft was a small twin engine propeller driven one. Our first attempt to land at Gunungsitoli failed because of a storm, with high winds and poor visibility. We had to return to Medan. But we made it on the second attempt.

Here we are arriving at Gunungsitoli's small airport and loading our equipment on to the waiting vans.

Travelling inland from Gunungsitoli to the highland areas we came across places where the winding roads seemed to just disappear, apparently washed away. Other places also had interesting bridges.

While in Nias, we travelled around in a convoy of small vans. Here are pictures of some of them.

We brought a lot of rice with us. Our hosts supplied the rest.

BBJ Trombone player Yudhykana Laia was responsible for arranging our schedule in Nias. Yudhy's house is located at Desa Hililaza, about 100 yards from the church where we held our first performance.
